Priority Granting

Grants will be made available starting at $10,000 and extend up to $100,000 for each category listed below.

 

  1. Residential care provides for the housing and general welfare of youth under the age of 18.

  2. Programs providing extended wrap-around services to families such as education, parental training, in-home follow up, and counseling.

  3. Foster Care support services that provide for the unique needs of foster families and the children they care for.

  4. Programs that serve the whole child through education, outdoor immersion, or learning through play and art.

Our Guidelines

Application

All materials must be received by September 5, 2019 to be considered. Materials may be submitted by email or post services. If you have any questions about your organization’s eligibility or about the application process, please contact Alex Ross at (509) 448-1412 or admin@morningstar-foundation.org. 

 

Please allow 30-45 days for consideration.

Do You Qualify?

Grant proposals are considered from eligible organizations who:

  • Currently qualify as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization according to the Internal Revenue Service Code

  • Serve Inland Northwest, primarily Spokane County, Eastern Washington, North Idaho and surrounding communities

  • Organizations should have a three-year track record of programming

  • Maintain current financial records, providing a copy of the operational budget and a statement of financial position

  • Have a working board of directors, as well as management, governance, and accountability structures in place

  • Provide a list of board members and their affiliation

  • Demonstrate 100 percent board-member giving

  • Provide a three-year strategic plan

 We do not fund: 

  • Individuals 

  • Indirect or supporting costs for operations

  • Endowments

  • Foundation fees

  • Financial deficits 

  • Fundraising Activities

  • Lobbying organizations

  • Government entities

  • The foundation does not grant in perpetuity.
